Day 8 of Euro Trip of our European Trip in the Summer of 2013

Friday is finally here and that means laundry day!  Chin went to school again and I slept in before looking for a Laundromat.  At first it was a little frustrating because laundromat also means dry cleaners in French.  I had to search for automatic Laundromat.  I found one on the map, pulled it up on my phone and headed out.  It was messy from there.  For some reason I couldn’t get the GPS to work AND in the process of getting GPS to work I erased the name and directions of the Laundromat.  I wandered around hoping I was going the right way.  This lasted about an hour until I stumbled upon an open hotspot.  I pulled up the directions again and the GPS decided to start working with the hotspot.  I did make my way over to the laundromat but it was replaced with a pharmacy! I verified with Google Street View that there was a Laundromat there but I guess the street view was too old.  I headed back to the hotel to eat lunch and figure out a different plan.  All told it was over 1.5 hours wasted.

I found 2 other Laundromats. The first one wasn’t that far from the hotel except this time I wrote down some notes and the name incase my phone decided to be stubborn.

Turns out I needed neither.  About 10 minutes walking and I had found the laundromat.  I stumbled a bit trying to understand how the machines worked but eventually I figured it out.  It’s only a little different than the ones in the states.  You insert your money into a machine on the wall and then enter the code of the washer or dryer that you are using and it starts.  The laundromats in the states require money to be inserted into each machine.

Once that was all done it was back to the hotel room to do some more work.  When Chin arrived around 7 we went out for a tasty dinner near the hotel.  With our bellies full we then headed to Louvre and Notre Dame.  We only visited the outsides due to time.   The whole walk was great and Notre Dame had some bleachers setup for people to sit on while shows were being performed or to just stare at the cathedral (no hunchbacks in the Bell Tower).

We got back to the hotel room around 11 where we then plotted how to take over the world next.  Turns out it is much harder than we anticipated.  Due to sold out trains, difficult transportation logistics we won’t be making it to Spain at all and Milan will have to wait till Sunday.  We also have to be Zurich on Monday to catch our plane back to the States.
